Brownwood Texas Sept 19 The treacherous Colorado River flood claimed a second life when farmer Ganum Maxcey 60 drowned while trying to save livestock. Eight members of the Ross White family at Bowser were rescued after clinging to their roof as floodwaters rose. Boatmen later ferried the family to shore as the river flooded thousands of acres of rich Texas farmland. Gaynor McBee 60 a ranch hand was also noted amid ongoing rescue efforts.

Widow is found guilty in Childs slaying at Center
Carthage dispatch reports Mrs Reable Childs 25 year old widow convicted of slaying Marlie Childs last April 23 in Center. She received 25 years in the penitentiary after jurors verdict. Terrance Bramlett 21, her admitted lover, faces murder trial Monday in the rifle slaying. Bramlett contends he will get less time. Judge T O Davis remanded Childs to jail pending further orders. he excused Bramlett’s jury from the case. Defense argued the state failed to prove severe penalties.

Kansas Woman Dies of Crash Injuries
Mrs Lula Bush 47 of Wichita Kansas died in a Shamrock hospital at 1 PM from injuries after the car she rode in struck a concrete abutment of a railroad underpass west of Shamrock on Highway 66. Driver Maud Bhank, also of Wichita, escaped unharmed. They were returning from a vacation to Colorado and New Mexico when the driver lost control on a wet shoulder and the car crashed sideways into the abutment.
