DPM Sara Wescomt presided as 41.000 at Tuneheon PW 1401 West Biehth townsville county courthouse. Essay winner received prize at a Townsend Club mess in the county courthouse at 2.30 PM.
Thieves struck a used car lot at 223 West Sixth and Chevron Service Station at 3400 Fillmore early Saturday. About $775 from the safe at the car lot and $45 from the cash register were taken, with nearly $800 in drafts and papers missing behind McKinley School yard. Police report entry through a door panel and note recovery of keys and papers near the school. Detective Lt. Bob Marshall calls the burglary violent and destructive. Workman Phillips on duty at the Chevron station reported the register theft Friday night.
A Nazareth man about 80 says he was held up Saturday night by two men and a blonde woman at the Union Bus Depot. He handed over 670 dollars after being lured into a ride toward East Tenth Avenue. Police quote him saying he was conned into the robbery.
Town council boasted modern bathrooms using one way glass in sixty bungalows. Councillor Richard Morde cai acknowledged a blunder after carpenters misinstalled the glass. Tenants reported embarrassment and a privacy lapse as authorities faced criticism.
Weather outlook notes light and morning fogs in Amarillo and vicinity with partly cloudy afternoons and little temperature change. West Texas sees partly cloudy days Sunday and Monday with scattered activity in Del Rio and Basin Pass areas. New Mexico reports widely scattered thundershowers, mainly in mountains.

Three men injured in a collision between a house moving truck and a car on Pullman road east of Amarillo. Charles Truitt Eubanks 25 of Dallas in critical condition with possible back and internal injuries. G W Red James 28 of Pantex village and Roy Evans of Plainview also injured. The truck overturned its cab but the 50 foot trailer stayed upright. The car and truck damaged. high line wires damaged and repaired by Southwestern Public Service. All three victims hospitalized at Northwest Texas Hospital.
President Truman urged farmers at the National Plowing Contest in Dexter Iowa to oppose Wall Street pressure and Republican policy he warned Congress favors speculative grain trade at farmers’ expense. He called Republicans gluttons of privilege and urged vigilance against slick propaganda.

Plainview across two dirt roads turned fatal when an auto driven by Wesley Cartwright collided with a truck carrying Alvin Noel and others. Ira D. Cartwright Rainwater, 19, died at the scene, with two others injured and four hospitalized. Funeral plans were pending.
