The Tri-State Fair resumes in Amarillo with a festive, colorful exposition aimed at residents of the Texas Panhandle South Plains western Oklahoma and eastern New Mexico. Gates open as the 1950 fair launches in a mood of gaiety and community pride.
The big show kicks off Monday with a parade forming on Polk Street at Rock Island station and marching to Taylor Street then First. Miss Eana Blanchard, 19, queen of the 1950 fair, rides near the front after being chosen Friday at the Herring Hotel.

Former Nobles Brothers Grocery Company co founder M W Nobles of Amarillo died at his home on a Sunday afternoon. Born September 22 1847 in Deport Texas he moved to Amarillo in 1902 and later managed Nobles Brothers interests in Plainview He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church He is survived by his wife a son Dr Millard W Nobles of Hereford a brother and two sisters Funeral services are set for Monday at Blackburn Chapel with burial in Llano Cemetery names of pallbearers listed
