Fatal Collision Near Claude Kills Youth and Injures Three
A car rear ended a grain truck on highway 287 east of Claude killing Gerald Glen Berry 18 of Quanah and sending Babbie Sue Stanton 14 and Arthur J. Stanton 22 to area hospitals in critical condition while John L. Fontenot 32 of Houston suffered serious injuries. The crash occurred shortly after 8 am as the car rolled twice away from the road. Fontenot was hitchhiking with Stanton who is a World War II veteran and amputee. Funeral plans for Berry are pending with N. S. Griggs & Sons and he was a senior at Quanah High School.
