The Paris case of Mehdi Ben Barka, exiled Moroccan leftist, whose 1965 kidnapping outside Brasserie Tipp sparked a major political scandal, is opened amid a veil of silence as authorities question where his fate lies and whether he is dead or held.
The U S 1st Cavalry base camp in Saigon came under mortar fire from Viet Cong on Saturday night. American artillery returned fire as 27 shells hit the motor transport quarters. An all male jury in Denton convicted William B. Clifford of murder without malice for the April 8 killing of his wife Shirley. Clifford, 33, of Canyon, received a two year sentence.
