Firestone plans huge Borger plant for gas and carbon black
Special to The News reports Harvey S. Firestone of Akron intends spending at least 6 million dollars on a Borger Texas project. The plan includes producing gasoline from natural gas wells and using residue gas to manufacture carbon black for tires. The venture envisions over 30 gas wells and a large land purchase near Borger as part of a statewide service and production network.

Judge Sets Aside 15Year Sentence for 6YearOld Killer
Circuit Judge Frank Bailey issued a writ of prohibition to cancel the 15-year reformatory term given to Carl Mahan for the killing of Cecil Van Hoose, an 8-year-old playmate. The judge ruled county court overstepped authority by sentencing a child so young to prison. Fire Rescue in Four-Story Downtown Building
More than a score of workers were rescued from a four story downtown building as fire trapped elevators on the lower floors. Firemen lowered panicked office workers by ladders and by two o clock the blaze was under control with no injuries reported.

Woman knocked down by hit and run driver in Amarillo
Mrs. L. A. Smith 4215 West Fifteenth avenue was struck by an eastbound car in front of the Amarillo Fish Market at about 8 30 last night. She suffered a fractured shoulder and bruises and was taken to Northwest Texas hospital by Griggs ambulance. Witnesses said she had crossed Fifth avenue after parking in the 100 block when struck. the driver fled the scene.
