Jockey C Ralls let the mare run her own race as she surged from the last turn to prevail. Madam J, trained by Charlie Mitchell, paid $13.50 to win with Phalason second and Indian Boy third. The feature drew a large crowd and promises a strong field for the Tri-State Derby next week.

The forecast notes partly cloudy skies west of the 100th meridian with a somewhat unsettled east Panhandle and warmer conditions in New Mexico's northeast, as temperatures rise through the day with highs around the mid seventies and lows near the mid thirties.

Three Borger Officials Named Defendants in Civil Suit
D. P. Trent, regional resettlement administrator for Texas and Oklahoma, is ordered relieved from his post by June 1. Paul B. Maris will assume the job temporarily. Dumas Rodeo Injuries Reach Five Competitors
Three rodeo performers were hospitalized during the second annual Dumas show on May 22. Roy Mason of Texhoma suffered suspected internal injuries after a drone knocked him from his saddle. Lester Durham of Floydada. Junior Caldwell of Fort Worth. and Minor Jones of Amarillo also sustained serious injuries from falls and animal contact. one rider remained unconscious briefly but did not require hospital care.

In Uvalde County on May 22 four persons were slain in two homes after a family shooting last night. Jarrett Sampier allegedly killed his wife and her mother and son before being shot by William Helbig Jr. Sampier’s mother-in-law and wife died in bed. Louie Helbig’s body lay on the porch. Mrs Helbig Jr. was wounded in the arm. a murder charge was filed against William Helbig Sr. The case continues.

Fall From Bed Fatal To Belton Infant
Peggy Jean Whitlock four months old daughter of Mr and Mrs J H Whitlock of Belton died in Austin from injuries after falling from a bed. The tragedy occurred as the family prepared to travel due to illness of James Leonard Whitlock. A double funeral was planned for the baby and Whitlock with burial at Fiskville Cemetery.

Pneumonia Threatens Star's Grandmother
Mrs Alla Harlow, about 70, grandmother of film star Jean Harlow, was reported in critical condition in a Albuquerque hospital. Physicians placed her under an oxygen tent as they sought to determine if pneumonia was the cause. She was taken from an eastbound train with her husband D. Harlow and nurse Miss N. V. Campbell.

Shamrock Heads Unable To Fix Fire Damage
Three workmen were burned, two critically, in an explosion at Shamrock Ot and Gas Company's gas extraction plant near Dumag early Saturday. M. F. Adkins suffered third degree burns and remained grave. Claude P. Rains had severe facial and hand burns. L. T. Nix sustained facial and hand burns with a cut wrist. All were treated at Amarillo hospital. A second accident at the McKee plant injured 19 year old Vernon Williams with a serious back injury after a 20 foot fall from a tank scaffold.

Auto overturns kill two women in Oklahoma crash
WAURIKA Okla May 22 Two women were killed and two women and a child injured when an automobile overturned on the highway after a tire blew out. The dead were Mrs Ada Bowe of Ardmore and Mrs Ella Gamel of Ringling. Mrs Clarence Gamel and her daughter Bonnie 8 and Mrs C W Wallace, all of Ringling, were hurt.
