Wrangle Over Attendance At Benson Led Drought Session

Denver reports a dispute over which state agriculture officials may attend a three day meeting with Secretary Benson. Colorado governor Ed C. Johnson plans to bring agriculture commissioner Paul Swisher, while seeking broad grassroots input and limited executive sessions. Governors from Montana and others expected to attend May 31 to June 2 in Denver.

Great Plains Council session limited to working group

Dahl described the Great Plains Council meeting as mainly a gathering of extension service personnel from ten states. He said staying within the working group is essential, with governors free to attend as observers. Amarillo Air Show Schedule Highlights Public Displays

The day features an open house from 10:00 a.m. with aircraft displays in hangar 4000 and 2:00 p.m. a Plansman Model Club demonstration on the aircraft parking ramp. At 11:00 a.m. the Amarillo Air Force Base model club performs, 1:00 p.m. the 589th USAF band concert, 2:30 p.m. a Retraining Group vs Furr Food softball exhibition, 4:00 p.m. a retreat ceremony at the headquarters building, and the open house closes at 5:00 p.m.

Amarillo High Rodeo Hits Lakeside Arena Today

Fast action is assured this afternoon at the Amarillo High School Rodeo second performance at Lakeside Arena on Highway 287. Twenty five entrants compete in bronc riding bull riding ribbon roping and calf roping. Events begin at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $1 for adults 50 cents for students and 25 cents for children under 12.
