Pete Latzo of Scranton defeats Mickey Walker by ten round decision to claim the world welterweight championship before about 12,000 fans. Latzo trades power shots and shows grit, overcoming a two to one favorite in Walker and the champion keeps trading blows to the finish.

In San Antonio, May 2 Fort Worth beat San Antonio 9 to 1 behind Jimmy Walkup on the mound and strong Panther batting.
Lamesa May 20. L. C. Johnson elected president of the baseball club with Ollie Sears as treasurer and Gus Ragsdale BL White N. P. Cochran Ollie Sears and Jack Ladd as directors. Guy Berry pitcher signed for the year. Games booked with the Paris All-Star team July 19 20 and 21. Lamesa open for games with any West Texas club.
In a baseball double feature, Fort Worth scored 9 runs to San Antonio's 3 with a 9 3 line. earlier Wichita Falls Spudders defeated Waco 15 to 2 in a long game. Cannon started for the Cubs and walked many batters as Spudders took advantage with hits and home runs.
Athletic directors of the Missouri Valley conference approve increasing the visiting team guarantee to 400 dollars with 60 percent of gate receipts, replacing the old flat 260 dollar payment. The vote also reduces the number of teams in the annual tournament and limits entries for singles and doubles from each school.
