The government will begin rationing bicycles in about three weeks. OPA amended orders to allow shipments to distributors as preparations for rationing. About 50,000 bicycles were on hand when sales stopped April 2. Victory models only since then with price likely $30 to $40. Children's bikes exempt. Dealers distributors and manufacturers must report inventories as of May 8 to OPA in New York.

Cadet Sidney Harper Dies After Training Plane Fall
Cadet Sid ney Douglas Harper, 24, was killed near Grand Prairie when he fell from a training plane. Officials cited possible failure to buckle or loosening of the safety belt as the aircraft flew at low altitude with an ineffective parachute. Ensign L Merchant of Amarillo landed the plane safely. Harper hailed from Floydada and was a former Texas Technological College student.
