The Phillies defeated the Pirates 6 to 0 in the World Series game. Curtin, a former Pittsburgh hurler, kept the Pirates hitless through five frames as Philadelphia pulled away with strong hitting and effective relief pitching.
Sneed of A. G. Spalding Bros. reports strong baseball interest across the Panhandle region. He states nearly every town from Yarwell to Plainview has financed a ball club and purchased uniforms, reflecting a wide national enthusiasm for the sport this spring.
Mr. Sneed notes towns struggle to hire enough professional ball players and expects renewed interest in baseball as the Panhandle area attempts to raise money to buy fourteen uniforms and related equipment for their team.
In Dallas on May 15 Elmer Hanson’s downer curves ruined the Steers’ pleads afternoon as Beaumont defeated Dallas 7 to 4. Four of 16 Steers hits came off Estell, with Galloway’s crew tallying extra-base hits. Beaumont collected a 7-4 victory over Dallas, while Hanson and Boelezlee starred on the mound and Estellana Pillings contributed in the field.
Philadelphia May 13 4 The White Sox halted the Athletives winning streak at nine with a 10 to 2 victory. Connie Mack's sluggers were held to seven hits as Joe Transor hit his 4th homer of the season in the sixth.
Washington tops St Louis 6 2 as Bush wins his first start of the season over his former club. Davis, Wingard and Hargrave pitched for Washington while Judgs and Bluege led St Louis with key hits. Yankees beat Indians 13 to 9 with Ruth homer spree. Detroit 13 Boston 10 in high scoring tilt.
Additional entrants join the fifty yard free-for-all at the Nat on Wednesday night. Early entries include H Lukis Shawnee W Barrett Charles Baker Tommie Robbins. Late entrants include Orbie Cleghorn Amarillo a former Pacific fleet swimmer Bill Hugill Tulsa and Francis Bander Tulsa high school champion. Admission remains the regular swimming price for the night program.

Al Badger of San Angelo defeats Dudley Rains of Stamford to win the West Texas Golf Association 36 hole championship at Breckenridge. Badger closed out on the 32nd green after dormying on the 30th as Rains rallied from eight down with 11 to go in a dramatic final.
Amarillo players Middleton and Fonken seek employment this summer. Middleton, manager Lefty, desires wholesale or retail grocery work.
