Three Air School Contracts Awarded by Army Engineers
The U S Army Engineers district office at Denison announced three contracts for the Air Force Technical School construction. Austin Road Company of Dallas will handle paving and taxiways, Joe Williams and Whit tle and Williams and Brough ton of Dallas will do underground utilities, and Bell and Braden of Amarillo will manage area grading roads and drainage. Each contract is under 1 million dollars, awarded in April and early May. Preliminary work is underway with roads taking shape and a Santa Fe railroad spur being built. Col E C Black has moved to Amarillo to head operations, with Capt Charles W Fletcher supervising construction and the Pantex Plant project. Housing contracts remain undisclosed for troop numbers.
