Panhandle Hardware Men Convene in Amarillo for 17th Meeting
Hardware dealers from the Panhandle and Southwest gather in Amarillo for a three day convention. Notable speakers include Dr Paul W Horn of Texas Tech Rivera Peterson H B Mize and George O Roberts. The PHIT club organizes entertainment dances and banquets and an oil field tour to the Carson Hutchinson field.

Canadian River No 1 and Others Target Oil Output
Canadian River No 1 is reported making 40 to 60 barrels per hour through a bridge in the hole. President Jim Whittington says the well, nearly paid for itself after three months, received a second nitroglycerine shot and should be clearer by tomorrow. Canadian River No 8 shows 400 feet of oil in the hole with high gravity expected. gas is off. Canadian River No 2 has a fine showing but a cave has developed and drillers work to resolve it.

Wells to Begin on Cods Ranch in Hartley County This Week
The first oil well in southwestern Hartley County will be started this week by Holmes and Heck on the Cods ranch in section 58. Producers expect at least five more wells in the area, with holdings by Harland, Holmes and Heck, Pure, Gulf Amerada, J C Neudigate et al, Magnolia, Slay, Union of California, Prairie, Humble and Roxanna. An unnamed independent operator reportedly leased over 2,000 acres yesterday and Athairine is to start midweek. Shelton ranch leases rise to 17 1 2 dollars per acre amid lease activity.

Dallas Hailstorm Causes Heavy Damage and Casualties
A severe Dallas hailstorm struck downtown and surrounding areas with stones over a pound. It left thirty injured and nearly one million dollars in property damage, smashing windows, piercing car tops, and halting traffic and telecommunication services.
