Plainview Spelling Bee Champion Crowned by WG Globe
Wright Scott, an eighth grader from Plainview Junior High, won the News-Globe Spelling Bee in a close final. Runners up Elva Joy Clark Betty Mae Leinen and Don Cartlidge spelled tough words. 33 county champions attended the banquet hosted by The News-Globe with dozens of superintendent guests. The national winner will travel to Washington with all expenses paid and a cash prize of 500 dollars.
