Amarillo Men Die in a Morning Rollover Crash
Two Amarillo men were killed and two others injured in a one car rollover about six miles south of Fritch at 3 45 am Saturday. Killed were Jacky Laughan Murray 24 of 3621 NE 18th and Edward Clute 27 of 1716 NE 16th. Hamilton 21 of 4343 Ridgecrest was in critical condition at Northwest Texas Hospital. Byrd 24 of 729 N Houston was treated and released. The car driven by Hamilton left the road at the intersection of Alibates Road and Texas Highway 136 rolling at least four times. Murray and Hamilton were rushed to North Plains Hospital in Borger. Clute died at the scene. Byrd was later taken to Northwest Texas Hospital. Clute had lived in Amarillo three years and worked for Affiliated Foods. He was a Vietnam veteran. Surviving are his widow Lydia and his parents.
