Six year old Kathy Hampton found safe after abduction
Kathy Hampton, 6, was located near a vacant ramshackle house in St. Louis with scratches and bruises. A 15-year-old youth confessed to abducting her, and police say she was tied and gagged but not raped. She was hungry and thirsty and hospitalized for evaluation. The case remains under police questioning and juvenile procedures.

Slayer Shot in Jail Break Ends Oklahoma City Man’s Run
Franklin C. Perkins 28 of Oklahoma City was shot and killed after he and cellmate William Howard King escaped McLennan county jail in Waco Texas. Rangers and officers fired, killing Perkins as the pair attempted a gunfight under a frame house. King was captured unharmed and returned to custody. Perkins had been sentenced to die for the February 3 kidnapping and murder of Ray Spencer.

Sunray Youth Dies in Highway 87 Collision
Mercer Leon Morris, 19, of Sunray, died after a crash on Highway 87 three miles south of the Canadian River bridge north of Amarillo. Morris died at 12:50 p.m. at St Anthony’s Hospital. Five others injured were in the other vehicle carrying seven Mexican American family members from San Antonio.
