Twenty people volunteered blood for a transfusion to save Shirley Ray Mednick at St. Anthony’s hospital. Abe Sverdloff donated near a pint. doctors and parents contributed as well as the child showed improvement with expected recovery, after severe anemia and critical condition. Drs. Cultra Gist Loving Streit coordinated the transfusion after a Friday night appeal. The child had been ill since January with relapses and weakness. 45 Million Bushels Wheat Crop Expected From Bigger Acreage
Henry Ansley reports a Panhandle winter wheat crop projection of at least 45 million bushels from 2 65 million acres. Moisture has been ample and with normal conditions for 60 days a record harvest is predicted. Government estimates place Texas at 44 million, mostly in the Panhandle except about eight million in Vernon. Acreage rose to 2 65 million from 2 2 million. Moore and Sherman counties lead in new planting. A record crop is seen as the Panhandle farmer's relief.

Two Pedestrians Struck on Fourth and Grant Streets Shoot
Two pedestrians were hit by a car at Fourth and Grant Streets Saturday night and treated for cuts and bruises at St. Anthony's hospital. They were named as R. L. McClellan of Texarkana and W. Thornton of New Orleans. The driver, W. A. Oldham of 2205 Wichita Street, said he did not see them until just before impact, stopped within 30 feet, and called an ambulance.
