Miss Daisy Davies of Atlanta says the last stronghold of injustice to women is in the church as the commission on women's place in church service reports to the Women's Missionary Council. Mrs Ella Resch a Youngstown Vindicator reporter was jailed in Lawrence county jail after refusing to name source for Irene Schroeder life story during her trial. The March 15 incident occurred in New Castle Pennsylvania as the contempt arrest was ordered.

Special to The Sunday News Globe from Silverton March 15. Relatives of Jim Page say he was found dead on a Randall county highway near Amarillo last Tuesday and believe foul play occurred. They think he was robbed of about 200 dollars from his fur shipment. Page, a deaf and dumb cobbler who lived alone, had a camping outfit in his wagon. Sheriff Bill Thompson said Page died in a wagon fall. no money was found and foul play was not suspected.
The Associated Press reports postal authorities deny a large sum and securities were aboard Maurice Graham's air mail plane, missing since January 10. Officials say no loot or robbery evidence exists and suggest the craft fell in a remote Nevada area, possibly buried by snow.
The Sandstorm Amarillo Senior High School newspaper won first place in its class at the sixth annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association convention at Columbia University. More than 700 school publications competed, judged by Colonel S. D. Minnegerode of the staff.
Washington report says Edward L. Doheny was tried on a charge of bribing Albert B. Fall to win a Elk Hills Naval Oil Reserve lease. A government witness testified the Pacific Oil Company would have liked the contract for Pearl Harbor if it included a Elk Hills lease clause.
In Beaumont Texas H H Bass 38 dies after a fight sparked by a joke at the Magnolia Petroleum refinery. Gibbs 22 is charged with murder after surrendering and posting 1000 bond. An inquest cites heart disease as the cause of death following Bass collapse during blows.
Mrs Mary M Kerr 67 wife of John B Kerr of Amarillo died at 1400 Harrigan Street at 8 30 Saturday morning. Funeral at 3 this afternoon at home with Rev J A Bays and Rev G J Irvin. Interment Llano Pantheon Blackburns Mortuary in charge. Survived by husband three sons Herman Finley Horace Kerr and Finley Kerr a daughter Ruth two sisters and three brothers. Four grandchildren Roy Kerr J D Kerr Bertha Ann Kerr and Mary Covert Kerr. The Kerrs moved to Amarillo from De Kalb Texas in 1890 nine years after marriage and Mr Kerr was active in cattle business.
Wide rainfall across the Panhandle Friday evening and night improves wheat and cotton prospects. Amarillo area totals reached nearly one-half inch with 0.96 inches in Amarillo. Unsettled weather and more rain are forecast for the next 48 hours as roads dry and travel resumes. City Forester Robinson notes benefits to lawns and trees.
The first woman charged with child desertion since the offense became a felony was arrested in Potter County. The boy, eight, was the child involved and the complainant. Mrs Ethel Townsend faced Justice J W Minter, claiming she had paid one dollar daily but was over $200 in arrears. she posted $500 bond.

In Jetmore Kansas three robbers from the Manter State Bank were captured after a daylong chase across the prairie. The men Richardson Walker and Holliday identified themselves with false names and confessed to the robbery and shooting of Deputy Sheriff Hickman and injuries to two others during Colorado flight. About $4500 was taken with most found hidden in underwear and $100 in change left in an abandoned car. They faced extradition to Colorado as officials planned proceedings.
A survey of the Panhandle and surrounding wheat areas finds expected yields between 20 and 26 million bushels with light damage from wind and worms. Rain before April 1 could lift the crop further. total area is about 2,500,000 acres.
The Pampa meeting to adopt a Panhandle field proration plan faced opposition from Gulf Production as several attendees failed to vote. The plan passed 10 to 5 and outlines unit oil production equal to one fourth of the prorationed outlet divided by producing units, plus a pro rata share of the outlet based on unit daily potential. The plan goes to the railroad commission for review at Pampa on March 21.
