On March 12 at the H. F. Wilcox Oil & Gas refinery in Pampa Texas four men were badly burned and two others hurt when a series of explosions and a resulting fire destroyed the plant. Tank infrastructure containing thousands of barrels of gasoline and naphtha burned as oil reportedly leaked to a boiler and ignited.
Mary Nolan the film actress and her husband Wallace T Macrary were sentenced to 30 days in jail on eight counts of failure to pay wages at a gown shop Nolan operated. They are free on appeal bonds of 200 dollars each. Nolan is known on stage as Imogene Wilson.
In Shanghai on March 12 a Japanese civilian received a 15 day jail sentence for beating Miss Rose Marlowe, an American missionary teacher. The Japanese consulate said the act was condemned and that nationals were warned against repetition.
The Big Push to find jobs for the jobless added 9,660 postings yesterday, boosting total workers returned to work to 212,236. The United Action for Employment Campaign aims to widen the effort.

Ida Mayfield Wood a 93 year old Manhattan recluse died of pneumonia after living 18 years in a Herald Square hotel room with a million dollars tucked in her skirts and mattress. Her nephew sought court authority to manage her estates as details of her secluded life emerged.
The Student Prince comes to Amarillo Monday with a 75 member cast plus orchestra and crew. Four acts and elaborate scenery mark this touring operetta, with a special El Paso to Amarillo train bringing the company. Wilbur C Hawks guarantees a high quality production and low ticket prices from $1 to $2.50.
Los Angeles reports screen actress Joan Bennett and screenwriter Gene Markey will marry here next Wednesday after obtaining a license. Bennett, daughter of Richard Bennett and Adrienne Morrison and sister to Constance and Barbara, was previously married to John M. Fox. Markey, from Jackson, Michigan, wrote several notable screenplays including As You Desire Me for Greta Garbo.
The Student Prince, revived by a New York company, will be staged in Amarillo and two other Texas cities tonight. Dorothy Donnelly wrote the book and lyrics with Sigmund Romberg composing, famed for Maytime and Blossom Time. The cast features George Hassell, Allan Prior, and Gertrude Lang with strong singing principals and large period-accurate choruses.

Democratic Floor Leader Henry T. Rainey announced a poll showing the House will defeat the sales tax as drafted. Leaders decided not to close general debate today on the $1,096,000 tax bill and will let debate continue into next week while opposition explores alternatives.
The Student Prince tickets go on sale at the City Drug Store, 517 Polk Street, from 10 AM to 8 PM. Mail or telephone orders to Wilbur C. Hawk will be filled, with prices from 1 to 2.50 dollars. Balcony seats vary, with front rows at 1.50, parquet at 2.50, and rear parquet at 2.00.
