A 1929 Dallas blaze destroyed the Lake Cliff Casino and eight nearby houses, injuring nine. The high loss is estimated at 160000, with no cause yet known. The joint occupants were James P. Six Bridge Workers Drown in Kanawha River Bucket Accident
Six men on a new bridge project across the Kanawha river at Charleston were drowned when a cable bucket failed midstream. The bucket detached from a broken post, tossing all occupants into swift water near midstream. Two Vega Men Convicted in Liquor Case
After 18 hours of deliberation the jury found O. B. Jackson guilty of liquor violations and sentenced him to one year in the penitentiary. J. O. Hefner, his alleged accomplice, was found guilty with a recommended suspended sentence of two years. Evidence included a car trunk with six half gallon jars of whisky. The case will be appealed and transportation charges remain in district court. Jackson’s parole status was clarified by his attorneys.

Special to The Sunday News-Globe. Perryton March 9 three Ochiltree county children burned to death in stove explosions over 48 hours. Roy Laverne eight of Mr and Mrs Carl Meigs near Gray died from kerosene lighting fire. Reed children twelve miles west of Perryton died in an oil stove blast. neighbors saved the home. Funeral services held in Waka for the Reed girl and boy. Mary Louise, Roy Laverne’s sister, suffered severe burns but was rescued. The Meigs home was a total loss. other children Charley twelve Carl John ten Billie four. Remains sent to Wilson Funeral Home Gray cemetery.
