New concrete paving opens on Highway north of Amarillo
A seven mile stretch of concrete paving north of Amarillo opens to traffic today. Col Oscar Seward supervised the project for the State Highway Department and Earl W Baker Construction Company completed the road with a 24 foot wide paving and a 40 foot wide slab crossing Amarillo Creek under the Santa Fe line. W J Van London predicts the road will rank with Southwest best. Entire project aims to finish by July 4 with 12 miles more north of the river contracted last week.
