Roy Williams prominent Amarillo cattle and oil man was injured in a morning crash near Elk City Oklahoma. Albert Fitzpatrick a 17 year old from Rowlegs Oklahoma died from skull fractures and internal injuries. Williams suffered a scalp wound and left hand injuries as the car overturned. Williams son Bill Mac Williams and Mrs. Labadie were with him. Funeral plans for Fitzpatrick were incomplete awaiting his mother’s arrival.
The department will accelerate farm aid payments due to income drops and weak crop prices. About 755 million dollars is available for farmers enrolled in this year's crop control program. Normally payments come after the season, but urgency prompts an early start. The first tranche, 130 million dollars, goes to cotton growers who produced cotton last year and planted within this year's acreage limits, with payments possibly starting in August.
