Rail car crash injures and kills dozens in Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania Railroad special train carrying baseball fans derailed near Steelton by the Susquehanna River. Elevators To Go on Block in Plains Area Sales
Elevators in a five county Plains area owned by bankrupt Billy Sol Estes will be sold at public sales to satisfy indebtedness to original owners. About 14 million bushels capacity and current storage at about 30 percent full. Sales set for Monday and Tuesday August 6-7, excluding the United Elevators South Terminal at Plainview. Amarillo July Rain Approaches New Record Level
Heavy thunderstorms drenched the Texas Panhandle with up to 5.50 inches near Farwell and Muleshoe totals rising as Amarillo's July rainfall reached 5.75 inches. Rescue Team Plucks Boys From Mountain Ledge
Two Abilene high school youths trapped for 24 hours on a half mile high mountain ledge were rescued Saturday night. They were brought to J C Hunters ranch at 8 15 p m and lowered by rope basket then carried part of the way. John Buddy Myers 17 suffered a sprained ankle in a Friday fall and would be flown to Abilene for a medical check up. Lowery Thompson was reported in high spirits and fine condition.
