Wilbarger Convict Slain During Escape Attempt
Cecil Davis a 33 year old inmate from Eletra serving a two year term for theft at Wilbarger County was shot to death Thursday while attempting to escape from the Retrieve Prison Farm near Angleton. Captain H W Miller reported that Davis ran from a squad and Captain J S Brown felled him with a rifle bullet after guards fired three times and missed. General Manager O J Ellingson led a hearing amid reports Davis had tried to escape before and he was buried at the prison farm.
