Harry J. Leahy was found sane by a Georgetown jury and sentenced to death for murdering Dr. J. E. Ramsey. A new sanity hearing was requested after the verdict, with attorneys arguing a technical point could overturn the decision.
The Dallas News reports Dallas friends of District Attorney R L Bobbitt of Laredo expect him to run for governor next summer. Bobbitt declined to deny and smiled when asked. The paper also says Dallas District Attorney William McCraw is likely to run for state attorney general.
Forecast through 7:00 PM Saturday calls for thundershowers and cooler conditions in Sunday areas of West Texas and Panhandle with partial cloudiness in parts of New Mexico. Observations from 7 AM show Amarillo temperature 67, other city readings, highs around 90, rainfall 0.0 inches for the 24 hours through 4 AM yesterday.

Fort Worth July 27 estimates from T. B. Johnson of The Amarillo News say Panhandle Plains wheat output rises to 45 million bushels. Earlier weekly estimates were 42.5 million and 36 million at harvest start. Railroads reported an average 1,450 bushels per car across 24,000 carloads, totaling 84.8 million bushels moved to market.
Dale Jackson and Forest O Brine continued the St Louis Robin flight at Lambert field into a fifteenth day as the motor showed no sign of giving in. They had logged 346 hours and praised beating rival Billion Dollar City from Houston after it forced down this morning. Special to The News Floydada July 27 two young men dressed in overalls robbed Elsen Gullion proprietor of a garage at about 11 PM. They ordered him to back into the office and a six shooter was placed to his back while the pair rifled the cash register of about 50 dollars and fled through the garage rear. Sheriff P G Stegall was given descriptions. suspects are believed from North Plains harvest fields with Tahoka home. Gullion & Son posted a $60 reward for arrest and conviction.
Results from two of three polling boxes show a strong majority in Potter County for the loose stock law. At the court house box 81 voted for the law and 2% against, at Pleasant Valley school 59 favored and 8 opposed, with Box No. 2 Allison school not reported yet as the law takes effect.
