Parking Meter Trial Ordered for Amarillo
Amarillo votes two to one to install parking meters in the business district on a six month trial with meters costing 56.50 each and fees of one cent for 12 minutes two cents for 24 minutes and five cents for an hour. Karpark Corporation of Washington will install them. Mayor Joe Jenkins opposed the plan.

Newest Cruiser Joins the Navy
The San Diego, a fast Atlanta class cruiser, was launched at Bethlehem Steel Fore River yard in Quincy. Mrs. Percy Benbough shattered California champagne to christen the ship as 500 spectators and a congressional delegation watched. The keel was laid March 27, 1940, and the vessel is noted for speed and mixed cruiser-destroyer features.
