Body Stolen From Casket In Gruesome Mystery
In Skokie Illinois the funeral for Theresa Koertgen was interrupted by the theft of her body from Haben Funeral Home. Police chief Captain Edward Caulfield had no clues or theories. Report 1 Dead In Melee In Rochester Riots
In Rochester New York one white man was reported killed during a riot sparked by curfew defiance. Police said a looter struck the man then an automobile hit him. A second death was reported as rioting spread in west side neighborhoods with looting, rocks, and smashed windows. State troopers used tear gas. police blocked routes as hundreds were injured or jailed for rioting.

Three Hurt In Three Car Crash At Broad Way Hastings
Three people were injured in a three car crash at Broad way and Hastings about 11 p.m. Saturday. Injured are Bobby Woods 30 with head and shoulder injuries Bobby Collins 19 with undetermined injuries and his wife Shelia 17 with severe head and chin lacerations. Taken to Northwest Texas Hospital. Derailment at Canyon Kills Unidentified Hobo on Freight Train
An unidentified man hitched a ride in a boxcar on a north bound Santa Fe freight derailed west of Canyon. He was found among wreckage with only a razor and magazines. The death is blamed on a faulty journal causing overheating and axle failure. The crew was uninjured. Spencer Sanders of Lubbock witnessed the wreck and described the chaotic pile up and twisted rails. Eisenhower autographed his car during a delayed stop in Amarillo as his train was rerouted.
