Relatives slain and man takes own life in Belleville
In Belleville Illinois John Kerchner aged 62 beat his step daughter Virginia Bennett 24 and her 4 year old son Charles Jr with a pipe and then killed himself with a pistol. Olivia Kerchner his wife escaped after being warned and screaming. Neighbors cited heat as a possible cause while Kerchner had been reading the Bible and marked a verse about killing.
