A sweeping Texas drought survey reports losses in the millions to farmers and stockmen. Across Big Bend, North Texas, the Panhandle and Rio Grande valleys, forage vanished and cattle water grew scarce, prompting emergency canneries and stock removal under relief efforts.
Three separate musical programs will be featured at a free rally for candidates in front of the grandstand at the Tri-State Fair grounds. The event, with no charge to audience or speakers, runs from 7:30 p.m. and invites all county district and state candidates or their representatives. Entertainment includes Wilson Brothers and the Melody Millers with Mason King introducing speakers.

In Joliet Illinois on July 21 a convict named John Pawelczyk claimed inside information on the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and murder. Officials said the story had been investigated months ago and dismissed as the product of an imagination.
The Roosevelt administration announced a climate control project to plant a 100 mile wide windbreak belt across the central plains from Canada to Texas. The plan estimates a 75 million dollar cost with initial 15 million allocated and planting to begin in 1936, targeting completion by 1944 on about 20 million acres.
A tip that outlaw John Dillinger might appear at a Lakeside Culver cottage prompted a statewide alert. A posse led by Colonel Robert Rossow, Culver Military Academy cadet commander, and a state police member watched Culver Exchange Bank all day, but no robbery occurred.
