Viet Cong Shoot Down U S Observation Helicopter
Viet Cong gunners shot down an OH6 observation helicopter east of Saigon and then downed a larger helicopter coming to aid, killing eight Americans and wounding three. Earlier a CH46 crash near Da Nang killed six Marines and injured sixteen. A DH6 crash, an Army UH-1L landing attempt, left five more Americans dead and three wounded.
