The Panhandle oil field posted a 1936 record of 81.6 million dollars in oil and gas products and payroll. Gas output surpassed oil for the first time, with 30.723 million from gas and 29.851 million from oil. Total field recovery reached 276.386 million barrels valued at 20.75 million dollars, signaling a strong 1937 outlook.
James Fred Fogg, 16, pleaded guilty to beating and robbing Amarillo school principal FE King. Judge BE Nelson Jr. sentenced him to the state reform school at Gatesville until age 21. Witness principal King testified. Fogg was arrested in Liberal Kansas hours after the crime. Randall County sheriff took him into custody.

Sherrill officiating.

Amarillo and vicinity expect partly cloudy conditions and colder air with possible snow flurries and northwest to north winds. West Texas east of the 100th meridian sees a mix of sun and snow with cold north portion and mixed rain in the southeast. New Mexico will be fair but colder in the northeast.
Five snowstorm victims linked to mining sites 120 miles north of Las Vegas were rescued only to be cut off again as new blizzards swept the region. A prior aerial survey by mine operator Lee Prettyman found no life signs after ten days marooned.

Dr. W. W. Mattson issued a final review asserting he believes his son Charles was kidnapped and killed by amateurs who bungled the ransom plot. He says the crime stemmed from greed, not revenge, and notes his family’s modest means and the broad fear it caused in Tacoma.

Firebaugh California January 16 a broad search was under way for Ralph Bedal a seven year old boy and son of Joe Bedal after a thief stole the father s automobile with the child inside authorities fear he may have harmed the boy and residents joined the manhunt the car was left near the Firebaugh theater while the father went into a store to shop.
Grover Cleveland Alexander a former major league pitching star is seriously ill in a Springfield hospital today. He is being treated for a leg infection that developed after a prior automobile accident and a recent fall.
Five residents were killed and two wounded in clashes between Tepeyan to villages Tepeyan to Xoxotla as Agrarian department surveyors began marking land divisions yesterday. The dispatch from Puebla notes the confrontation over communal land division.

Federal grand jury indicted twelve men and one woman in Dallas in what U S authorities call the largest narcotic ring exposed in U S history. U S district attorney Clyde Eastus announced indictments charging six people with handling narcotics valued at about 500000 dollars.

About 150 vintage automobiles donated by 35 Houston dealers moved through downtown Houston en route to a public bonfire tonight. The event drew spectators for the cleanup and final burn.
