The Jericho Gap on Highway 66 east of Amarillo is now an all weather road with a gravel surface across the 17 mile strip. P 8. Bailey state resident engineer said travel remains rough until rainfall settles the loose gravel. A three mile dirt strip on Highway 88 toward Clarendon was gravelled, surfacing Jericho to the caprock and continuing to Clarendon.

Car commandeered robber Lawson held after cafe heist
I E Roy Lawson 25 once of Pampa confessed to the Silver Grill Cafe robbery at 1 20 am. He identified cashier Bessie Henderson and taxi driver John Moseworth who drove him from the scene. Lawson said he had no gun. $112 was taken from proprietor Lcot Dewey Ashcroft. He was arrested at the King Hotel after an all day city wide search. Police found his clothes in a truck and a home servant’s quarters. Detectives were aided by clues from the taxi driver and locals. Authorities tracked him as he attempted more entries. He had hidden near railroad tracks and returned to town after nightfall. He had registered at the King Hotel about an hour before arrest.

Two unidentified gunmen believed from Oklahoma were seriously wounded and captured after a raid on a third filling station in Lebanon Missouri. Sheriff Sam Allen and ex-sheriff John Jones led the posse in a daylight chase through town. One captive said his name was Flossie but offered no more information.
