Baby saved as mother gives up hope in South Side fire
Fireman Michael McWalters crawled through smoke to rescue 3 month old Larry Waldock from a crib as flames trapped the Waldocks in their second floor apartment on Chicago's South Side. The infant was rushed to St Bernard's Hospital in critical condition while the parents Gary 4 and David 16 months were injured. Mrs Waldock cried that the baby was inside but she could not help.

Pampa Man Killed in Texas Panhandle Crash
A head on collision on Highway 60 south west of Pampa killed Clark L. Ayres aged 52. Orville Gosnell Keith, 46, and Carl Hayton, 37, injured with Keith in critical condition at Highland General Hospital. The crash occurred at 6 20 p m with Keith on the wrong side of the road.
