Senate Limited Debate on Farm Bill After Two Weeks

After two weeks of debate the Senate agreed to limit further speechmaking on the farm bill with 15 minutes per speaker for amendments and 20 minutes on the bill. Substitute farm programs by Senator Lee were exempted, and the rule excludes motions to send the bill back to committee. The move aims for a quicker passage next week amid ongoing discussion and objections raised by Secretary Wallace.

British Mercy Ship Under Fire While Evacuating Nuns

Washington December court actions show the La Follette committee facing mixed outcomes. Ted Creech a 35 year old mine superintendent from Harlan County Kentucky was acquitted of perjury after denying threateningminer Richard Tackett.
