Officials note heavy showers Friday night and continuing thundershowers with highs around 80 today and 72 yesterday. Roads closed by high water on routes near Tucumcari and Grady remain impassable at 7 p.m. Saturday.

BenJack Cage Sought by Texas Panel in ICT Collapse Probe

Airman IIs Killed In Car Truck Collision Near AAFB
A.3.C. Robert L. Watts of Amarillo Air Force Base died in a two vehicle crash at the 3rd Avenue and Lakeside Road intersection east of the city around 7 45 p m Saturday. The car carrying four airmen, likely driven by Watts, hit a van trailer driven by Clarence Richardson 51 of Abilene. Watts died at Northwest Texas Hospital after the coroner’s verdict by Justice of the Peace Bonita Potter. A.3.C. Thomas F. Simmons 18 of AAFB suffered head injuries and was transferred to the AAFB hospital. Two other airmen have unspecified conditions and were taken to the base hospital. AAFB hospital admission included A.3.C. Howard L. Wiggins and A.2.C. Roger L. Gross. All belonged to the 3320th Field Maintenance Squadron.

First Meeting of Directors Hospital Expansion Is Goal
