Dorothy Fowlkes and R E Reyman wed in Guymon Oklahoma while Dorothy Fowlkes and T E Reyman were also reported married in Clovis New Mexico. Bride Dorothys family residence and groom origins noted with plans to honeymoon in Colorado.
Miss Mildred Pearl Umphres and James Thomas Bradley were married at 8:30 pm in a home ceremony officiated by Dr. Robert Pryde. The couple will reside in Amarillo after a short honeymoon. the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Xanthie Umphres and the groom is with Southwestern Public Service Company.
Mrs A G McDaniels and her young son A G Jr are traveling to and visiting in Lubbock and Plainview according to local social notes.
A summer bridge party hosted by Miss Mary Lee Fuqua featured Miss Ruby Cornelius and Miss Margaret Cooper of Midlothian as guests of honor. Flowers decorated the rooms with yellow and white accents. Mrs. Harry Montgomery won high, Mrs. Roy Brewer second high, and guests prizes went to Miss Cornelius and Miss Cooper.
Concluding a week of social activity, Mrs Ben Henson hosted a dance for her sister Miss Estelle Mobley of Stephenville at 1001 Hunset Street. Yellow and white decor, garden flower baskets, and white chiffon attire marked the evening with punch served from a fern-decked table. Notable guests included Miss Mobley and a long list of friends from Breckenridge Wichita Falls Wellington and Dallas.
Miss Lillie Iris Daves daughter of G H Daves of Channing marries Bruce Ray Colthorp of Channing this afternoon at 4 at the bride's home. Rev A W Colthorp officiates with maid of honor Eloise White and best man A W Colthorp. The couple plan a two week honeymoon and will teach in Channing next year.
Misses Edith and Betty Zelley with their brother Ridgeway travel by auto to Washington D C to join their mother Mrs R E Zelley visiting relatives Mr and Mrs J N Crowe in their home. They will tour points in Pennsylvania and New Jersey during the trip.
A new ladies day golf and luncheon club forms in Amarillo, organized by members of the Amarillo Country Club led by Mrs Forest Barnes who is elected president. The group plans Thursday morning meetings at the country club for a Scotch four some and luncheon with competition results noted from Thursday's matches.
Host Mr and Mrs Henry Gooch welcomed about 20 guests at a five course dinner Friday night at 2000 Monroe Street. Invited visitors included Mrs Abner McGehee and Mrs Will C Thompson of Dallas and Miss Elberta Gooch of Colorado Springs. Clifford Lemons of Memphis visited his mother Mrs C R Lemons over the weekend.
Amarillo social set gathers at the Amarillo Country Club for a formal dance hosted by Miss Zallee Williams with Miss Jeanne Betty Johnson of Enid Oklahoma as guest of honor. Clyde Davis Orchestra plays as floral surroundings and punch served. list of attendees includes many local debutantes and guests.
Miss Lela Krebs and H L Higday marry at Dean O Malley Episcopal Church in Albuquerque. Krebs, longtime city secretary, wears midnight blue crepe and pink rosebud bouquet. Higday, ex Panhandle Asphalt Plant owner and N M M I graduate, now ranching near Albuquerque. They plan a mountain honeymoon and to reside in Albuquerque.
Several elegant pre-nuptial affairs were held in honor of the bride-elect, with guests and hosts hosting intimate gatherings. The social events showcased generous hospitality and city society's support ahead of the upcoming nuptials.
Alice Hackett, longtime Amarillo music pillar, has become a permanent member of the Chicago College of Music staff after accepting a summer term contract. An associate teacher with Frantz Proschowski, she holds Bachelor of Music degrees in Voice and Piano and studied under noted instructors including A. E. Virgil and E. R. Schmitz.
