In Louisville Quebec a freight train struck a large truck carrying 43 passengers at an open grade crossing killing 22 and injuring 12. Many victims were flung into the ditch or under the wheels as improvised morgues took the dead.

Clarence Duncan a 26 year old farmer from Trent in Taylor County confessed to murder and guided officers to the weighted body of G H Jones a middle aged filling station operator in Lake Sweetwater Jones disappeared Tuesday night and his car with lights burning was found between here and Trent Officers found a struggle scene and Jones false teeth near the car Duncan was charged with murder. Also charged are his 19 year old bride and her brother Winiford Allen of Stamford. Duncan said Jones had tried to induce his wife to leave her husband and offered him $100 to leave the country. He said he and Jones fought after meeting where the car was found.
