Youth Lost From Boat At Buffalo Lake
Paul Lance twenty two of Summerfield near Hereford is believed to have drowned after falling from a fourteen foot boat on Buffalo Lake. The body had not been recovered by nightfall. The accident occurred about 9 15 p m one and three quarters miles from the dam and 200 yards from the east shore while Lance stood in the front of the craft after the motor stalled. His companion Eugene R Clark fifteen Hereford said he heard a splash and later could not find Lance. Clark notified D C Walser of Summerfield and rescue teams using searchlights and grappling hooks joined the hunt. Randall County Sheriff Erwin Cantrell aided in the search. Two Amarillo firemen with grappling hooks were sent, and a Griggs Warren ambulance from Canyon stood by.
