Legs Diamond Convicted In Prohibition Racketeering
Jack Diamond known as Legs Diamond was convicted by a federal court jury of conspiracy to violate the prohibition law and possession of an unregistered 1500 gallon still. His partner Paul Quattrocchi was convicted of conspiracy but acquitted on the still charge. Sentencing set for Wednesday. Diamond faces up to four years and $11,000 fine. Rock Island Engineer Stabbed in Nighttime Robbery
Virgil F. Mann 42, a Rock Island engineer, was stabbed in the chest during a street confrontation on North Polk Street. The University of Michigan Museum of Paleontology reports finding the dorsal armor of a giant Triassic phytosaur around 25 feet long near Amarillo Texas.
