Small Pleads for Voting on Relief Bonds
Senator Clint Small of Amarillo urged a statewide bond issue as the emergency relief plan for Texas during a mass meeting in Borger. He warned that refusal would jeopardize federal aid and stressed bonds would be paid by a special tax with funds strictly for relief, while safeguarding against graft. The Hutchinson County Welfare Association praised local handling of relief funds and a second meeting was planned for Stinnett.

Negro Released On Bail After Shooting Affray
Lewis McFlannel a negro was released on 1000 bond Saturday on charges of assault with intent to murder after a six shooter battle with George McRobertson another negro Thursday night in McRobertson s yard. Neither man was hurt. Bond set in Justice J W Pittinger s court. Mr and Mrs Joe Cannon of 1013 West Sixteenth Avenue were called to Waukomis Oklahoma Saturday by the critical illness of Mr Cannon s father.

Memphis Fire Boys Take Test Honors at Panhandle Meet
In the Panhandle Firemen’s Association event held this week in Pampa Memphis fire boys took high honors with an elapsed time of 138 seconds for five events Chillicothe finished second at 141 seconds and Childress third at 158 seconds The Pampa team did not contend for honors but showed well in engine hook up and water throwing with a 22 second effort Also noted was Indiana reporting one million fewer automobile licenses issued this year than last.
