Burglars Hunted in Panhandle Two-Station Robberies
Sheriff Clarence Williams announced a pickup order for occupants of a 1941 Oldsmobile sedaneette linked to two burglaries early today in the Panhandle. The two stations, Phillips 66 and Mohan's, were entered between 1 and 3 am. loot included 42.05 in cash, a wrist watch, cigarettes, candy, and various money denominations. Deputies investigated after the raids were reported. A separate burglary at Raef Brothers in St Francis involved a juke box money, a Remington rifle, and candy bars, discovered when the store opened.

Derailment of Candy Train Scare Spreads Through Valley Park
In Valley Park Missouri on September 28 a westbound Frisco freight derailed near a Meramec River bridge. Thirty four cars left the tracks and candy cars spilled sweets enthralling 300 schoolchildren who gathered chocolate bars while others found refrigerators and furniture. No injuries were reported though three children later fell ill after overindulging.
