Albert Benjamin Fuqua 65, long-time stock farmer with fruit interests in Arizona, died Thursday in an Amarillo hospital after weeks of illness. He lived in Armstrong and Oldham Counties, moved near Wildorado, and was visiting relatives when he fell ill. Survived by widow Cora and four sons Carl Clay C A Sacramento and Jack, and three daughters DeShong Kistler and Franklin. Funeral plans by N B Griggs and Sons await relatives.
Pupils at Buchanan Junior High School held their annual student government election. Joe Wright was chosen president Benny Files vice president Juanita Faye Pennington secretary Aubrey Rutledge treasurer Neita Fae Webster press reporter David Fritts sergeant at arms. Principal E L Hunter presided.
The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws urged creation of a bureau of criminal statistics and identification in every state and possession. The action was one of three adopted in the conference’s first definite moves since it began on Monday in Kansas City Missouri.

La Porte county Sheriff Joe Wolf orders an end to inmate led mock hearings in the jail bullpen. He cites abuses and says new prisoners often face improvised fines paid in cigarettes candy or personal belongings while other inmates frisk them. The jail now focuses on supervised tasks and games to pass time.
AUBURN N Y WP says a burglar broke into St Alphonsus Church seeking cash but found none and cut himself on jagged glass while escaping through a window. Police report no money recovered and forensic details limited.
A KKK official from Atlanta denies endorsing any presidential candidate including Roosevelt. He notes the group only votes for their preferred candidate and calls it fortunate if the Black issue is dropped. The letter criticizes alleged Justice Black membership as bigotry and intolerance.

Sacramento reports the new statewide campaign against suicide to run via press and radio. The Suicide Prevention Society of America, directed by Robert Rehkugel of Oakland, has campaigned in California for over a year and says several despondent individuals have been talked out of ending their lives.
L A Whipple of Pawtucket Rhode Island was stopped by Traverse City police who instead of a ticket gave him an engraved scroll proclaiming him mayor of Traverse City for one day. He was en route to Grand Traverse Bay to fish for trout and learned his Rhode Island license was listed among foreign plates this season.
Industrial employment in Toledo at the start of August was 33 percent above a year ago. Automobiles, automobile parts, children's vehicles, glass and related industries remained steady, alongside other sectors.
Highland Park took first honors in the rural school division exhibits and in the two teacher schools at the Tri-State Fair. Loney placed second in the two teacher schools, River Road took second in schools with more than two teachers, Brady earned first prize in one teacher schools, and Ady was second. County Superintendent Carl G. Clifft, in charge of the exhibits, announced the results.

Police theorize that 12 year old Bob Snyder fired a mouser pistol at his 60 year old school principal and wounded June Mapes after seeking a movie hero role for a schoolgirl audience. The boy lay critically wounded in hospital. Detective Murphy said the girl was to be his audience and he wanted to be a gangster, not in Hollywood but at Arlington school.
The motor caravan moved with more than 15 cars guiding the procession. The six noted girls in red uniforms were Jean Owens Monte Jo Brashear Joan Hinds Dillie Ruth Moore and Virginia Wilmuth. A modern dairy barn on the Oklahoma A and M College grounds houses 80 cattle.

In Milwaukee the Milwaukee Brewers defeated Columbus 3 to 0 after losing the first two games in Columbus. Ralph Winegarner nearly pitched a no hitter as Milwaukee avoided a sweep in the final playoff series.
The Texas wildlife planning board, after re-electing Dr. Walter P. Taylor of Texas A. and M. College as chairman, will meet at Fort Worth in January. Board members discussed the cash value of game and fish propagation.
