Youngsters Parade Tomorrow In Amarillo Kids Day

One of Fair Week’s largest events is the second annual Kids Day Parade set to start on Polk Street at 9 30 tomorrow morning. Maynard Drake of the Amarillo Safety Council is parade marshal and urged participants to have floats by 8 30 and youngsters in place by 9.

Touring Group Asks Truman To Take Hand

An Amarillo girl among 46 stranded American teachers and students in Paris cabled President Truman seeking aid to return home. Miss Bennett, 22, daughter of Mrs. Alvin Hill, graduated from Sarah Lawrence College last June. The group has been marooned two weeks after Student Travel Service ran out of funds.

Paris Trip Students Stranded Endure Plane Delays

A group of American students and teachers stranded in Paris seek help as a Flying Tiger plane fails to fly them home due to mechanical issues. The chartered aircraft is in Amsterdam, four days into repairs, delaying return. Miss Bennett fears missing Columbia University registration. Murray Fled New Orleans Linked to Embezzlement

Sheriff Gaither said Murray 37 fled New Orleans early Wednesday. He faces two embezzlement counts and may have gone to Old Mexico or Cuba. Bondsman reported Murray said he would head to Amarillo before vanishing. Herman Romy of Kansas City remains charged with receiving and concealing embezzled funds in the case.

Former Amarillo official Murray faces embezzlement charges

Murray, once secretary treasurer and general manager of Grandpre Farm Equipment Company at 101 Buchanan, allegedly cashed a 17000 dollar company check in cash after leaving Amarillo on Sept. 22. He is accused of embezzling 10000 dollars of company funds and was arrested Sept. 12 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Initially upset, Murray planned to sue the complaint signer but later opted to fight the case.

Inflation fuels stock market surge to 19 year high
