Little White Bear Mystery Solved in Beacon Hill Park
For twenty years scientists and explorers hunted a dwarf white bear in British Columbia. A native sighting near Butedale led to a confirmed specimen, Ursus Kermodei, now housed in Beacon Hill Park Victoria where the friendly cub delightfully entertains visitors. The bear, about twenty seven inches high and two hundred pounds, inhabits a rugged coast range of islands with dense forests and waterfalls, and shares the birthing and hibernation patterns of other North American bears.
