Actress Bobby Arnst files for divorce from film star Johnny Weissmuller known as Tarzan. The couple’s separation follows reports of personal strains amid Weissmuller’s public swimming career and marriage in Hollywood.
Mayor Joseph V. McKee won a court battle to block a November mayoral election. After succeeding James J. Walker then facing ouster, McKee argued against a special election tied to this year's general vote. Supreme Court Justice John McGeehan ruled there should be no special mayoral election and that McKee remain until the next regular ballot a year hence.
Poona reports suggest Mahatma Gandhi may end his hunger strike after discussions with political visitors. He demanded removal of a separate electorate plan for the lower classes to resist caste entrenchment. News from New Delhi says a compromise near.
Extradition papers for Jack Sullivan, sought in a Texas bank robbery at Olton, were approved by Governor Arthur Seligman. Sullivan lay in a Albuquerque hospital recovering from gunshot wounds after being shot by officers near Mountain Air last week.

He urged voters to place honesty above party and framed the race as a test between principled upbringing and the opposition’s alleged corrupting influences.

A new top price for cattle on the Kansas City market was set when Lee Schloss Inc of Newark NJ paid $5.85 per hundredweight for five carloads of Missouri Hereford steers fed by McNamara Bros of Kearney MO. Ninety one head averaging 1344 pounds brought 20 cents above the year’s previous top established last Monday.

Amarillo voters pass an emergency ordinance relieving property owners of penalties interest and delinquent city taxes for 1931 and earlier years. The deadline is November 30 with no remittance allowed after. Officials estimate $20,000 plus saved. current delinquencies stand at $193,687.66 for 1931 and earlier years.

Hollis Schriber former Globe News assistant secretary to Congressman Marvis Jones has returned to Washington to work in the office there. Jones plans to remain in the district for some time.
