United Press reports two fleets in the New York Spokane air derby stretching from the Atlantic seaboard to the northwest. A fatal crash marred day two as a Buhl Aiister piloted by Richard Hudson and passenger J Radke fell in Morris Town New Jersey, killing both.
The Lions club heard Dr. Karl McBride outline Oklahoma's plan to fund crippled children treatment through a one tenth tax on state taxable property. About 200 attendees, including civic and women’s groups, listened as McBride urged state society formation to promote similar Texas laws.
The city commission is expected to name a park board tonight to lead Amarillo’s permanent park and playground program. A meeting was held yesterday at Ellwood park with a committee led by Dr. D. Roach and including G. Ordway and several Mrs. representatives. City officials note low turnout but say interest in the project remains strong.
Rich ard J. Hudson of Marysville Michigan piloted a plane in the National Air Derby and his passenger were killed when the craft crashed in the woods two miles west of Long Valley New Jersey. Hudson died en route to Morristown hospital. Passenger was dead on arrival.
In Stinnett, Hutchinson County, a county doctor D. H. Cobb a nurse Olive Riley and father J. R. McGilly face charges in an illegal operation case brought by Alvin Stokes ex husband. The courtroom was crowded as the defense demonstrated the operation on a table before the jury. The trial began Thursday and was to conclude today.

In Lung hwa near Shanghai on September 20, 3,000 Chinese soldiers fought as a regiment under General Ho Ying Ching attempted to disarm 1,500 troops commanded by General Chen Chio Chien. Casualties were reported at 80.
A. G. Goforth, indicted for robbery, testified as the state's principal witness in the trial of O. W. Webb and C. B. Minnick charged with robbery with firearms. Goforth claimed that Webb, Minnick and he robbed Lee Berry of about $600 last May, with stockings used as masks. The defense indicated plans to question Goforth’s reliability as a witness and suggested Webb’s father may have influenced the confession. The state rested after presenting corroboration attempts, with one witness, Ethel Snyder, unexpectedly contradicting the anticipated testimony. The case was expected to finish that afternoon.
The forecast calls for fair and cooler tonight then warmer Wednesday. Temperature extremes through 1 pm today reach 57 and 49, with last year’s values 09 and 41. Ambulance services listed as Blackburn 21 and Griggs 250.
Nine inmates escaped the Howard county jail in Big Spring at 5 a.m. and stole two small cars. Three escapees had been transferred from Tom Green county jail. those named include T. Moore Leroy Edwards G B Martinez Louis Lieder Bill Morgan two Stricklands and two others unnamed.
President Coolidge has abandoned any plans for a special session of Congress or the Senate, stating there is no occasion. He says funds for flood relief will last until January 1, while Army engineers cannot complete flood control investigations before November 16.

A. Moore, linked to the Joe Puer rey gang of confidence men, was arrested in Omaha after duping rancher J. W. Norfleet of Male Center Texas out of 45000 in 1920s. Accomplice A. A. Poynes from St Paul carried a phoney 16500 in counterfeit bills. Moore had prior Leavenworth narcotics time and Texas prison release by Ma Ferguson.

Harold Gaggers 17 died at 7 15 this morning after two days of illness and an extended attempt by relatives and medical personnel to keep him alive with artificial respiration. He was taken from his home to Northwest Texas hospital, where physicians aided in the futile effort. Funeral services were set for 3 40 this afternoon at Griggs funeral parlor with Rev. J Lisemore officiating and burial planned for Mount Pleasant Texas. This was the first such Texas case with two similar fatalities reported elsewhere in the nation in recent months.
The 24 hour forecast from Herman Kollman indicates a high pressure system west of the Mississippi bringing cool conditions tonight with frost in northern West Texas. Look for a gradual warming trend tomorrow as temperatures rise from a recent unseasonal low, with a 49 degree low recorded at 8 this morning.
