Amarillo Airparks Aim to Expand Trade Area Fourfold
Chamber of Commerce aviation chair Don Valentine says private flying could extend Amarillo’s trade area to four times its current reach or shrink to nearby towns. He notes air travel bypasses highway routes and attracts shoppers to the best landing facilities, urging landings near Polk Street and citing growing rural airstrip use by Flying Farmers of Oklahoma. Local owners warn against lacking amenities near airports, while planners foresee rapid growth in Pampa, Clayton, Littlefield, Canyon, Clarendon and Dumas.
