Death in Amarillo claims 89 year old Confederate veteran Claiborne W. Saunders born July 25 1846. He moved with his family from near Marshall Texas to Grey County then Pampa and Amarillo after the Civil War.
The 1935 Amarillo Tri State Fair opened with ceremony at 10 am as Mayor Rogers declared the fair officially open. Shamrock's Irish band played Show Boy while gates stayed free. Allen Hall 25 of Tatum New Mexico faces federal charges in connection with the July 1 First National Bank robbery at Bronte Texas. Bond set at 4000 by U S Commissioner Mary K Harty. Hall held in Potter County jail after transfer from Childress. Also linked are Jack Walker and Charles F White. Police seized a car loaded with rifles pistols ammunition. Hall an ex convict paroled from New Mexico prison earlier this year.
Nearly 300 Amarillo women will gather for sales instruction on Thursday and Friday mornings at 10 in the Polk Street Methodist Church chapel. The residential division of the Amarillo Community Chest Drive is led by Mrs. J. L. Scott with Mayor Ross D. Rogers in attendance.

FORT WORTH Sept 16 (UP) A 1935 style cattle rustling case unfolds with Jim Barrow 61 and nephew Irwin Barrow 24 charged in Denton County on four counts of passing bad checks for cattle. They are jailed pending more charges. Aged Barrow was arrested near Pilot Point with a woman companion. nine witnesses identify him as the buyer of cattle who gave bad checks and then vanished. Young Barrow is described as the occasional accomplice in most transactions.

In Hollis Oklahoma four vacant places at the Keys dining table mark the departure of quadruplet sisters Roberta Mona Mary and Leota Keys who left to enroll as juniors at Baylor University in Waco Texas.
