Potter County commissioners and Taxpayers League members clashed over the new 1933 budget. The dispute centered on how much of total valuation to use for assessment. The league urged relief equal to that given by the city and schools, while officials defended the proposed 40 percent rate.

George Lancaster a 19 year old Clovis youth was acquitted by a district court jury of slaying his estranged wife Blanche on August 27. Testimony lasted about seven hours with Lancaster claiming his wife blackmailed him and that a scuffle occurred when she grabbed the gun.
The New York Stock Exchange ordered members to provide all telegraphic communications dealing with political topics sent or received between September 12 and 15, 1932. The move follows a stock price break during the Maine elections period and aims to aid the Exchange’s business conduct committee.

Less than a half dozen booths remain unsold in the merchants building at the fair grounds according to Secretary Avery Rush. There are also a few concession spaces available and merchants can still obtain grandstand tickets in books of 25 at gate prices.
