Famed Bootmaker M McLaughlin of Amarillo Dies at 82
M McLaughlin a renowned bootmaker to celebrities including Tom Mix died at his home 1615 Monroe Street Amarillo at 8 this morning. Born in Ireland August 20 1854 he came to the United States aged 15 and worked in Chicago Dayton before heading west in 1889. He operated shops in Matador Ranch Texline and Tascosa and settled in Amarillo in 1892 retiring four years ago. His work included boots for Tom Mix dating from when Mix was a boy to his European tour years ago with 31 pairs still in use.
